Stem cell development just got better and better. Now we can see new achievement almost every week from the result of stem cell research. Growing new parts for the human body may not be a science fiction anymore as scientists are able to grow a full teeth with the roots.
These genius found a way to grow a new adult teeth by using cells from the human gums and some cells for the molars of a fetal mice. Previously, they all thought that this is only possible with embryonic cells which caused a spark of controversial issues.
They extract epithelial cells from the gums, mixed with mescnchymal tooth cells of embryonic mice. A week after, they transplant this into the tissue of a living mice(ouch?). The teeth of course, is going to be a human + mice hybrid.
Now, the only problem is to find a way to do this without the mice. I love how science is acceleration forward everyday. Soon, we could grow anything to replace almost any part of the human body.
