The ASUS UX501 is a 15.6-inch sleek powerhouse that has an aluminium unibody to go along with a thin build. It has a satisfying keyboard but its trackpad lacks practicality. Overall it has some flaws here and there, so you might want to know more before making the move to purchase it.

First of all, let’s take a look at what the UX501 has to offer in terms of its looks. Its body is made entirely out of aluminium. My first time touching it – I felt a jolt by how cold it is. With that in mind, it’s also confirmed that the body itself has no flex.

However, the same cannot be said for the for the lid. It’s something that I have to address right away here – it flexes way too much. Uncomfortably so, if I have to say. Yet the lid is really thin to be honest, yet the bezel is pretty thick.

On a quick note, the top corners of the keyboard have dots in the iconic concentric circle design too. Looks pretty nice, but I think it’s based on your personal preference. Now, for me, these dots are better to be removed. It just looks a lot sleeker, but it won’t have any character in the design. However, that means it’s a lot easier to clean. Dusts just won’t get caught by those dots.

Other than that, the UX501 looks pretty typical as a laptop. It has chamfered edges and it’s pretty much flat other than that. Nothing else spectacular. Very subtle yet minimalistic actually.
