Everyone – BRACE YOURSELVES! ViewQwest just announced earlier today that they’ll be making their entry to Malaysia, and commencing their operations here through ViewQwest Sdn Bhd. This is a joint-venture between Singapore’s ViewQwest Pte Ltd and Televenture Sdn Bhd., a Malaysian telecoms engineering services company.

What boggled my mind though is that ViewQwst had been in operation in Malaysia since July 2016. They’re operating in the dark of course, and has been rolling out fibre broadband access for enterprises in the Kuala Lumpur Golden Triangle area, Bangsar South, and even Cyberjaya!

Here comes the fun part – by the end of 2016, ViewQwest will be offering its 1Gbps internet service. It will be rolled out for homes and select residential areas within the vicinity of enterprise coverage zone first, presumably those stated above. The highest internet service we have now is only 500Mbps – and it’s time to upgrade my routers too.

ViewQwest’s signature Freedom DNS that bypasses any sort of geographical content blocking can by bypassed too. That means you can access Amazon Prime, HBO Now, Netflix, and many other services too. In addition, there’s another Android-based TV media player that will be bundled together with their broadband service too.

Currently, ViewQwest said that they’ll be rolling out their services and products to corporations and residential areas in phases over the next few months.

That’s all we know for now. I’m clearly excited for ViewQwest to enter the Malaysian market! And no – before you start saying “oh we have TIME!”, do consider that more competition means we consumers are the clear winners. Because choices. And choices means competition, and finally means lower fees for us end users – ideally, of course.
