DarkFlash has introduced the DY470, a mid-tower chassis that combines a sleek, minimalist design with optimized airflow to cater to both gamers and PC enthusiasts. Thanks to darkFlash, we got our hands on the DY470 for a closer look—here are our first impressions.
Overview
The darkFlash DY470 is a sleek and versatile mid-tower ATX chassis, designed to accommodate ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX motherboards. Built from durable 0.7mm SPCC steel and tempered glass, it combines sturdy construction with a stylish aesthetic, perfect for showcasing your components.
The case features pop-in pegs for securing the tempered glass and back panels, ensuring a seamless and tool-free design. It offers seven horizontal PCIe slots with the flexibility for vertical GPU mounting, providing space for GPUs up to 410mm in length and CPU coolers up to 175mm in height, making it ideal for modern, high-performance builds.
The front I/O panel offers modern connectivity with USB Type-C, USB Type-A ports, and audio jacks, ensuring convenience for contemporary setups. For storage, the chassis includes one 2.5-inch bay and two 3.5-inch bays, catering to both SSDs and traditional mechanical hard drives. While M.2 SSDs are becoming the standard for speed and compactness, mechanical hard drives remain a popular choice for users seeking cost-effective, high-capacity storage solutions.
Looking at the fan mounting options, we can see that the DY470 supports up to nine 120mm fans. It comes pre-installed with three darkFlash INF34R ARGB 120mm fans at the front for intake and one darkFlash INF34 ARGB 120mm fan at the rear for exhaust. Radiator support includes options for 120mm, 240mm, or 360mm radiators at the front and top, and a 120mm radiator at the rear.
The pre-installed fans operate at speeds between 800 to 2000 RPM, maintaining quiet performance at 31.6 dBA while delivering efficient airflow. With its balance of style, functionality, and cooling efficiency, the DY470 is an excellent choice for gamers and PC enthusiasts alike.
At the back of the case, the side panel features two large mesh sections designed to improve airflow within the system. Beneath the panel, the motherboard tray is equipped with a metal cover that conceals cables—ideal for users who may find cable management challenging or prefer a cleaner look without too much effort.
However, my perspective shifted upon removing the cover. Beneath it lies a surprisingly spacious compartment that provides ample room for effective cable management, even when using a non-modular power supply. Additionally, the tray includes an array of Velcro straps near the fan mounts, making it easier to secure and organize cables neatly.
Inside the case, you’ll find an accessories box that includes a microfiber cloth for cleaning fingerprints off the tempered glass panels, as well as screws for securing components like hard drives and the motherboard.
this thoughtful inclusion stands out, as the sturdy accessories box can double as a convenient storage solution for additional screws or system parts. It’s a much better alternative to the typical cardboard boxes or tiny zip-lock bags that are easy to misplace if not stored properly.
Build Experience
We got a fair amount of help from Gigabyte this time for the build test with the darkFlash DY470, which turns out to be better than expected. We don’t have any issues fitting the UD1600PM PG5 AI TOP with a measured dimensions of 150 x 190 x 86mm, B650E AORUS MASTER ATX motherboard, or even the AORUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti MASTER 12G with a measured length of 342mm. It also comes with a retention bracket to hold the GPU in place to prevent sagging, but the vertical GPU mount is an optional purchase which has to be bought separately.
While the installation process for the DY470 doesn’t deviate much from most PC cases we’ve tested, the standout feature is the extra spacious clearance at the top of the case and the removable top panel. This thoughtful design makes a significant difference, especially when installing a large CPU cooler or a full-sized motherboard. The added accessibility and room make managing these typically tricky tasks much easier, offering a hassle-free building experience.
First Impression
The darkFlash DY470 ATX case is a well-rounded choice for PC builders, combining aesthetic appeal with functionality. Its panoramic tempered glass panel and angular modern design offer a stylish showcase for internal components, while the spacious interior ensures compatibility with a variety of hardware. Its side-mounted I/O panel features modern connectivity options, including USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, dual USB Type-A ports, and audio jacks, ensuring future-proof versatility.
Pre-installed with four INF34 A-RGB fans, including three reverse-blade models for enhanced visuals, the case provides excellent cooling capabilities with support for dual 360 mm radiators and up to ten 120 mm fans. The back-connect motherboard layout and velcro-enabled cable management promote a clean, organized build, while the tool-free design and ample rear clearance make the installation process hassle-free for both novice and experienced builders.
Priced at RM489 for the white version and RM479 for the black, the DY470 is an excellent choice for those seeking a premium-looking, feature-packed case with efficient thermal performance and broad hardware compatibility.
