Things are getting serious. The entire world is frantically trying to fight the pandemic by practicing social distancing and good hygiene. The front liners are constantly finding out who is infected and to nurse them back to health. Even Apple is getting into the fray by producing face shields to fight the pandemic.
Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, posted this video on Twitter stating that it is a company-wide effort to design and manufacture these face shields.
Like any Apple product, these face shields have some amount of engineering that goes into the design.
As stated by Tim Cook, these face shields can be packed with a total of 100 units inside a box, and the strap can be assembled and ready to use in 2 minutes. The strap is also fully adjustable so that the user can wear it and be comfortable.
Cook also stated that the company is sourcing materials and manufacturing from the United States and China, and aims to produce a total of 1 million units per week.
Currently, the company is focused on getting the face shields around the United States first and to other countries later down the line. I’d say that’s a good move considering that the United States is getting more serious as its number of infected increases exponentially every day.
And hey – I commend Apple for doing this.
