While other people are doing previews for their upcoming products at CES 2023, Acer is doing the same but added another round of surprise in the form of the eKinekt Bike Desk “table-workout-equipment” amalgamation.
Basically clumping the essence of a workout biking machine and a standing desk, the eKinekt hopes to train the muscles of fellow white collars by transforming kinetic energy generated by the movement of your leg into electrical energy that can power up the device itself as well as connected devices.
Capable of generating about 70W at 60RPM for 1 hour of constant cycling, the leg motion can both act as a distraction while you dive deep into your thoughts. With 2x USB-A and 1x USB-C ports, you can connect laptops and smartphones alike for charging (But practically speaking, I guess the energy is more into maintaining the battery percentage rather than increasing it).
The eKinekt can be adjusted to fit different body sizes and builds thanks to the adjustable seat and desk height in addition to the pedal resistance because exercise is more important in this case with charging devices being the bonus points here. As such, there are 2 profiles for you to choose from – Working Mode and Sports Mode – to adapt to whatever you need at the moment.
As a modern device, it also comes with an LCD display and a companion smartphone app to keep track of your progress if you really want to daily drive this thing.
Availability
While local information is not announced at the moment, at least we can refer to the US pricing which is USD999 with the launch date set at sometime around June 2023.
