With Acer announcing brand new innovative stuff at CES 2023 such as the bike desk, the Aspire series is on the boring side of things as all they receive are refreshes for internal parts and nothing big in general.
Geared for the budget and balanced performance, the 2023 Aspire 5 is given the 13th Gen Intel Core mobile CPU + up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 combo to go with a maximum of 32GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Yes, the GPU isn’t current gen, isn’t last gen, it is last-last gen. A bit sad if you ask me.
Offered in sizes of 15-inch and 14-inch, the former is a 16:10 QHD panel while the latter is your run-of-the-mill 16:9 FHD variety but all in all they are all IPS displays. At least Acer isn’t cheaping out the I/O though as you can find Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, and HDMI 2.1 in it.
Notable features also include the 1080p webcam with Temporal Noise Reduction and a microphone with AI denoiser tech.
To go even cheaper than beyond, the Aspire 3 is tasked to cover that section instead with its really low-powered Intel N series processor – good for those who just use the machine for documentation and a little bit of web surfing and online calls. It is made further obvious since you can find a 1080p webcam sitting nicely on the top. In exchange for all of these, you’ll get superior battery life and a lightweight machine to run around with.
For the AIO desktop side, the Aspire S 27 and S 32 is one of the attractive offerings for a modern workspace that takes up minimal space on your working desk. The 32-inch model can host up to the Intel Core i7-13700 desktop CPU with an Intel Arc A series GPU (AV1 decoding let’s go?) while the 27-inch slides down a bit with the 12th Gen Intel Core i5 / i7 desktop CPU with Xe Graphics.
Both machines are marketed towards those who want a large and high-quality display with an adequate processing power for their needs and for sure, and the WQHD resolution will serve that purpose just fine. An optional 1440p webcam can be purchased separately if one needs to get on calls.
The webcam also enables Windows Hello for secure login thanks to the software working in tandem with Acer EyeSense. The back of the monitor stand also shows a plethora of ports including USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, an audio jack, and Ethernet too.
