Today is a good day for fellow audiophiles as Sony Malaysia launches the Walkman NW-ZX707 and NW-A306 music players in the country.
The latest high-end model NW-ZX707 comes with all the premium built quality and components to help you delve into your personal music world even more. For starters, it is packed with fine-tuned capacitors including an FTCAP3 and a large solid high polymer unit with high capacitance and low resistance.
Coupled with an OFC milled block and a large 8mm coil, sound across all frequencies is further optimized and cleaned for a better output. It also has a DSD Remastering Engine that allows Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) audio to be sampled into 11.2MHz Direct Stream Digital (DSD), allowing more choices and wider support for all sorts of uncommon formats.
These are on top of the enhanced battery life, large display, Wi-Fi support, and balanced connection characteristics.
On the other hand, the more affordable NW-A306 houses a 3.6-inch touchscreen and tactile physical controls for a more retro style of accessibility while the aluminum milled frame provides superior rigidity for low impedance and clear, stable sound and solid bass without sacrificing the weight factor as it is just 7oz light.
Regardless of the models, both of them are similar in terms of their core jobs as they have the S-Master HX digital amp technology to tackle native DSD format while the reflow solder technique has been applied for a cleaner sound localization and wider sound space. The DSEE Ultimate engine is getting an upgrade as well to make FLACs richer in general and some quality-of-life enhancements like wireless headphone support and streamed music.
For battery life, the NW-ZX707 is rated at about 25 and 23 hours of playback for 44.1kHz FLAC and 96 kHz FLAC High-Resolution Audio, or 22 hours for full-on online streaming. On the other hand, the NW-A306 is at 36, 32, and 26 hours.
