realme has always been on the more budget side of things, especially their C series offerings. Although the same old saying of ‘You get what you paid’ stays true until this day, the brand tried to pack as much value into their products but with very little effectiveness when it comes to flipping the image of “cheap phones = bad experience and looks”. However, everything is about to change with the new realme C55.
‘C’ is for Champion
In order to make the C family stand out from the rest, realme gave a revamp towards what the “C” meant to them and the new signature is the word ‘Champion’ – an ideology and standard that will be implemented into all future products of the series that makes them stand out at least in 1 out of 4 segments which are Camera, Storage, Charging, and Design.
The C55 is kind of special in this regard because realme is going big and made it a ‘Champion’ in 3 segments and we will be talking about what are those.
First Champion – The ‘C’ in Camera
One of the things that the C55 has that nobody else in the segment does is the high-performance 64MP camera lens that delivers clear and vibrant shots. Fun fact, this half-inch lens is the same one found in the GT Master Edition so you know that you’re really getting some good stuff here. Assisting the main lens is the 2MP depth sensor making sure that each photo contains the correct focus and blur.
Second Champion – The ‘C’ in Fast Charge
Ever need to quickly juice up your phone because you forgot to plug it in last night? Now there’s no worry to bring out a low-battery C55 as you can top it up quickly with its SuperVOOC 33W Fast Charge technology that can fill it halfway in 29 minutes or all the way through in 63 minutes! and let’s not forget its 5000mAh battery packs more power within each percent of the battery bar.
Third Champion – Storage
Although there’s no “C” in storage the C55 currently holds the highest memory configuration in the segment it’s competing with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM. The former can be expanded even higher to 16GB via dynamic RAM technology while the latter can be enlarged with an external microSD card to have a total of 1TB usable storage!
More Champion-like than you think
Aside from the three aspects the C55 portrays on the front, there are several goodies that you can only experience by daily driving the device.
For example, the Dynamic RAM feature temporarily utilizes ROM as virtual RAM to give a boost in RAM when many applications are launched and swapped around. With up to 8GB of addition to the mix, you won’t see applications restarting on their own after you take a call or shoot something with the camera, thus saving you precious time, especially in urgent situations in addition to reduced lagging due to low memory capacity.
On the other hand, users will surely be greeted by something special which is the Dynamic Island-inspired Mini Capsule – a small black bar on the top of the screen that will adapt its size when displaying various text-based information. The C55 is also the first Android smartphone to implement it before anybody else.
The dynamic light surrounding the Mini Capsule can display various states as well such as the Red/Blue/Green color when charging the device, Orange color when 90% of the data limit is reached, and Yellow color when a preset goal of steps and distance walked are achieved.
Conclusion
In short, the realme C55 is the absolute value king of 2023 for the budget smartphone section and a good start for the brand to start off the redemption phase of the C series family to become the Champion it seeks to become.
Now the important question. Why is it so confident in saying they are the best in its price segment? Well, because there’s no competition when it comes to an RM699 or RM799 smartphone which is the case for the C55 in either 6GB+128GB or 8GB+256GB configuration.
