Avid fans of retro and vintage style audio systems, here comes JBL Malaysia trying to take your wallet as they debuted the new Authentics family of products today.
We’ll talk about the speakers first. Coming in 3 different sizes namely the Authentics 200/300/500, this trio is designed to pack as much modern features and technologies into a classic package.
Taking the Authentics 500 as an example, it is WiFi and Bluetooth enabled with Dolby Atmos support. On the other hand, the Authentics 300 champions long battery life at 8 hours of usage churning out powerful audio while the Authentics 200 offers well-balanced stereo sound through its 1-inch tweeters, full-range 5-inch woofers and down-firing 6-inch passive radiators.
Regardless of which one, they all have built-in Amazon and Google’s voice assistant so you can go ahead and pick the one you’re comfortable with and navigate through your banger list via voice command.
On the other hand, the Spinner BT (The one on the left) features an aluminum platter and tonearm alongside a black MDF plinth with JBL orange or gold accents topped by a nice front panel and a hinged dust cover.
The belt drive and motor cover another optical sensor underneath that perfectly tracks and maintains the system to spin at exactly 33.3 rpm for albums or 45 rpm for EPs and singles.
It can also connect wirelessly to speakers and headphones via Bluetooth to enjoy that aptX-HD encoding stream (of course not as good as wired signals but yeah) while the aluminum tonearm ensures minimal to no wearing of the record groove.
There are also things like a removable headshell for easy access to cartridge replacement, adjustable counterweight + anti-skate, preinstalled and aligned magnet cartridge, and more.
