Apple just announced that the HomePod (2nd Generation) and HomePod Mini will be available in Malaysia starting 10th May 2024. These smart speakers start from RM529, and will be available in many different colors.
Of course, while still essentially being a speaker, it can deliver rich bass and brilliant high-frequencies with immersive Spatial Audio support. The HomePod Mini will also provide great sound despite its small size.
If one HomePod is not enough for you, then buy multiple of them and link them into a multi-room or stereo configuration to get more sound around the house.
The smartness of these speakers come in the form of smart home product linking and also auomations via Siri. We can tell it to check the room temperature, turn on the lights, or make sure the air conditioner is blasting at full speed before we arrive home.
Another smart feature is that the HomePod can listen to smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and send you a notification for your own safety. It also has a built-in temperature and humidity sensor to provide automations based on those data.
We can even tell it to control other Apple products like the Apple TV 4K or tell the HomePod to locate your misplaced Apple devices – e.g. if your iPhone went into the abyss between the sofa seats.
Like any other Apple product, HomePods will have Apple’s end-to-end encrypted for your peace of mind. Siri requests are not stored by default, ensuring your privacy.
The HomePods are also crafted with recycled materials and utilize energy-efficient components, in compliance with Apple’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire product lifecycle.

The prices for the HomePods are as below:
- HomePod (2nd generation): RM1,549
- HomePod Mini: RM529
New Apple HomePod users will also be getting Apple Music free for 6 months.
It will be available to order starting May 10th at apple.com/my/store, the Apple Store app, and in stores.
As a bit of comment – my initial guess was right but a bit of a twist. The Apple HomePod and HomePod Mini are indeed going to be available in Malaysia but not because the Apple Store has been launched. Maybe Apple is launching these products before the launch to prepare for it?
