Apple has announced a sweeping update to its accessibility ecosystem, rolling out later this year across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro are loaded with new features designed to empower users with disabilities.
First we have the Accessibility Nutrition Labels, and no, this isn’t about food or eating – it is for the App Store where apps will now have a section showing what sort of accessibility options they are offering, taking the example which are VoiceOver, captions, Voice Control, and color contrast.
With this, users with disabilities can now make informed decisions before downloading, essentially saving time from all the trials and errors.
For those who felt small text was a pure torture, Mac is going to receive the Magnifier App with direct integration into Continuity Camera and Desk View. It could be used to zoom onto visual subjects, read documents, and customize views using filters and contrast settings.
Oh, it is also part of the Accessibility Reader suite with a new systemwide reading mode with support for font adjustments, spacing, color options, and Spoken Content, available for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro.
Give some Braille some love with the new Braille Access feature that now provides braille input for note-taking, calculations using Nemeth Braille, and support for BRF file reading. If needed, launch Live Captions to help speak out Braille content seamlessly.
Next, Live Listen will be ported over to Apple Watch with real-time Live Captions, helping them catch or monitor conversations or presentations from across the room.
If you’re still keeping your Vision Pro, then perhaps the visionOS update comes with the stuff you finally could use – improved Zoom, Live Recognition usable to identify objects, read documents, and describe their surrounding.
A new developer API will also allow apps like Be My Eyes to access the main camera for real-time visual assistance.

- Background Sounds can now be customized with EQ settings and automation controls in Shortcuts.
- Personal Voice, Apple’s AI-generated voice for users at risk of speech loss, now generates results in under a minute and adds Spanish (Mexico) support.
- Vehicle Motion Cues, designed to reduce motion sickness, now support Mac and gain more customization on iPhone and iPad.
- Eye and Head Tracking receive updates for smoother control and improved typing with Switch Control.
- Brain Computer Interface (BCI) support arrives on iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS via a new protocol for Switch Control.
- Assistive Access now includes a simplified Apple TV app and tools for developers to tailor content for users with cognitive disabilities.
- Music Haptics gets fine-tuned control over tactile feedback on iPhone.
- Sound Recognition introduces Name Recognition, alerting users when someone calls their name.
- Voice Control adds a programming mode in Xcode for developers with limited mobility and supports new languages, including Korean, Russian, and Arabic (Saudi Arabia).
- Live Captions now support more global languages across devices.
- CarPlay gains Large Text support and expanded Sound Recognition for in-vehicle alerts like crying babies or sirens.
- A new Share Accessibility Settings option will let users temporarily apply their settings to another iPhone or iPad — ideal for public kiosks or borrowed devices.
