Eastel is expected to commence operation beginning Q1 2026, and this 5-year partnership with U Mobile will see the orange brand providing its next-generation 5G infrastructure and 4G network for data, voice, and SMS services, while also supporting Eastel with international direct dialing (IDD), roaming, and mobile number portability capabilities.

Kenneth Chang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile, said the collaboration marks a key milestone for the telco as Malaysia’s newest 5G provider, adding that it represents the first of many wholesale agreements to come as U Mobile’s 5G network expansion targets 80% CoPA coverage by the second half of next year.

He also added that the partnership highlights U Mobile’s commitment to enabling more players to leverage its award-winning 4G and 5G network, helping foster greater diversity and competition in the nation’s digital economy.

Meanwhile, Aaron Lee, Executive Director of Eastel, said the company is honored to be U Mobile’s first 5G and 4G wholesale partner, noting that the collaboration will power a new kind of MVNO designed to serve Malaysia’s Gig and Creator Economy.

He emphasized that by leveraging U Mobile’s ultra-fast network, Eastel aims to deliver niche and customizable, data-intensive applications tailored for the community, contributing to a more connected Malaysia.

With the agreement in place, Eastel is set to utilize U Mobile’s advanced network infrastructure to roll out specialized mobile services and solutions aimed at its target market segments.
