Finally, we’re reviewing one of the most anticipated flagship phones for this new generation of smartphones, the vivo X300 Pro. We actually got the entire photographer kit with all the phone case, camera grip, and the ZEISS 2.35x Telephoto Extender. With this combination, vivo created the ultimate concert phone. You can watch the entire unboxing video at the top right corner there or down in the description below.

But, in today’s review, we’ll only be focusing on the phone alone because there are a lot of things to talk about.

Design

So, let’s talk about the new look. The new vivo X300 Pro is available in three different colors – Phantom Black, Mist Blue, and also the Dune Brown color that we have here. It kinda looks like coffee? I don’t know, I don’t drink coffee – but I think it looks really nice.

What I really like about the new X300 Pro is how refined it looks. The matte finish gives it that premium touch, and it also does a great job at resisting fingerprints. The build feels solid, slim, and well-balanced in the hand.

Now, about that camera bump. Yes, it’s big, but honestly, it’s one of those designs that grows on you. It gives the phone a distinct identity, and it makes sense once you realize it houses vivo’s powerful ZEISS camera system. It’s not just for looks, it’s part of the phone’s character and functionality.

Camera

The camera is a big part of the phone, literally. vivo is also putting heavy emphasis on the periscope camera. The camera bump is also pretty thick, but that’s because we can’t cheat physics when it comes to good optics. vivo also included their own VS1 Pro Imaging Chip to further improve the images coming out of the cameras too.

Screen

The display this time is flatter, with just some micro curves around the edges, and honestly, I think that’s a great move. A flatter screen just feels cleaner and is way easier to stick on tempered glass screen protectors. It also makes the phone more comfortable to use day-to-day.

Color accuracy is another strong point. On the default “Natural” profile, it delivers realistic tones with a DCI-P3 coverage of about 73%, and the ΔE value is impressively low, meaning colors are accurate and true to life. It’s perfect for those who prefer natural, balanced colors rather than oversaturated ones.

Switching to the “Professional” color profile gives very similar results, which honestly shows that vivo has both profiles well-calibrated right out of the box. Some users mentioned the white balance might differ slightly, but based on our measurements, it’s well within the margin of error.

Lastly, we also have the “Pro” color profile, which delivers the most vivid visuals on the vivo X300 Pro. It covers nearly 100% of both sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts, so everything from photos to videos looks rich and vibrant without feeling overdone. Color accuracy remains impressive too, with an average ΔE that’s very low, meaning what you see is both striking and true to life.

Performance

Okay, performance time. I posted this on our YouTube community post a week ago, saying that the vivo X300 Pro is secretly a gaming phone. And it is. Let me tell you why. This vivo X300 Pro comes with the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500.

What’s impressive is the things we discovered, as this phone has a much higher thermal limit. We tested Genshin Impact at the highest graphical settings at 60fps, and that didn’t yield any meaningful data since Genshin Impact is not our most demanding game anymore.

We then move on to Zenless Zone Zero. At the highest graphical settings, we were getting really great results. Oh boi, I did the entire flower boss fight and also all 3 Deadly Assault bosses and the phone still did not thermal throttle. The overall experience was smooth and amazing. It did not maintain 60fps throughout the entire test – that’s okay as the frame rate consistency is good and it did not have any major stutters or frame drops.

The same goes to Wuthering Waves, by the way. I had to do so much more than fly around just to try to make it thermal throttle. When it did thermal throttle, it didn’t actually aggressively throttle – just dropping the frame rate a little.

I have to admit, vivo’s tuning for the Dimensity 9500 is great and it’s also very difficult to thermal throttle – making this phone kinda better than some of the gaming phones that we’ve tested before. I also thought that the humongous camera bump will be a heat trap since the chipset is located somewhere under that camera bump – but that’s not the case. It’s crazy to see how good it is.

Battery life

Moving on to the battery life, our unit comes with a 6,510mAh battery, or 23.6313Wh capacity. Remember, always use Wh instead of mAh because mAh is just not a good way to measure battery capacity – we also made a video about why. Also, if you’re from the EU, then the battery capacity will only be at 19.75Wh. Take note of that.

We did the standardized battery life test, and it lasts for around 22 hours and 52 minutes – which is still a great result to see. The battery consumption is pretty much expected, consuming just slightly above 1W during the entirety of the battery life test.

Charging speed

The charging speed is also rather interesting, I’d say. The vivo X300 Pro comes with a proprietary 90W charger and it charges from 15% to completion in around 53 minutes.

You can also turn up to the highest charging speed in the settings menu and that changed the charging speed a little, so leave it in default and that’s already good enough.

For those who want to use your own charger, then fear not – the vivo X300 Pro supports USB-PD PPS nicely too.

Software

Okay, we’ll also want to talk about the software. vivo switched over from FunTouch OS to OriginOS globally, starting with the X300 series. So, with an entirely new OS comes a brand new look and also some new features here and there.

Of course, the animations are super smooth and responsive and it looks and feels good, though not the best way to judge a phone’s smoothness. We do have a new glass look that is obvious where the inspiration comes from, and it also has the Origin Island too.

While the inspiration looks obvious, there are some added features too. We can drag files like photos from our gallery into the Origin Island and immediately share them to other apps. It’s actually a great feature to have.

We also have this flip card lock screen which is fancy, though I personally skip the lock screen every single time anyway.

A few more things to mention

And a few more things to mention about the vivo X300 Pro. This phone has a USB 3.0 port at the bottom, that means supremely high transfer speeds and also supports display mirroring too.

We do have dual SIM card slots at least for our region – and also an IR blaster at the back. That’s about it in terms of features.

Should you buy the vivo X300 Pro?

The biggest question then is, should you buy the vivo X300 Pro? I honestly am inclined to get one myself too. It has a lot of the right things going on for it, and I absolutely did not expect this phone to secretly be a gaming phone.

And the cameras are also great. So, what’s the price? The vivo X300 is available in 16GB + 512GB, starting at RM3,899, and vivo X300 Pro will be available in 16GB + 512GB, starting at RM4,699. You can now pre-order both models from today until 21 November 2025 at all vivo Concept Stores and online via https://www.vivo.com/my.
