U Mobile has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HLGY Energy to explore smart solar farm solutions built on U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network. The idea is to combine private 5G connectivity, AI, and industrial automation to improve how solar farm operations are monitored and managed.

U Mobile and HLGY Energy signs MoU for a solar farm running private 5G, with drones and AI doing the inspections 1

HLGY Energy is a Malaysian renewable energy developer working on utility-scale solar and integrated energy solutions under Malaysia’s Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), including the Kedah Rubber City Solar Power Plant. Under the MoU, the two companies will explore deploying a private 5G network as the digital backbone of the farm, with U Mobile acting as HLGY’s innovation, automation, and communications infrastructure provider.

That dedicated, secure connection would support applications like autonomous drone inspections, AI-powered analytics, and smart CCTV surveillance. In practice, that should mean remote monitoring, earlier detection of problems, and faster responses when maintenance is needed. It also fits U Mobile’s enterprise growth strategy, applying ULTRA5G, which Ookla and Opensignal have independently recognised for speed and availability, to the renewable energy sector.
