Selangor Techsphere Summit 2026 kicked off today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, running from October 14 to 17 with more than 35 conference sessions and 34 participating exhibitors. The four-day summit brings together industry leaders, manufacturers, technology companies, government representatives, and experts to discuss the technologies shaping the future of industry, with a focus on how AI, semiconductors, automation, sustainability, and talent are changing the way businesses operate and invest.
Hosted by the Selangor State Government in collaboration with the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre and powered by Hannover Messe, the summit aims to connect global technology developments with the practical needs of businesses in Malaysia and across ASEAN. Speakers come from organisations including Siemens Malaysia, Intel, McKinsey & Company, Kearney, Festo, and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing.
Each day is built around a different theme. Day one, on AI and the Digital Economy, looks at how AI is moving beyond experimentation into practical business use. It features a keynote by geopolitics and technology expert Alex Capri titled “Techno Nationalism: Strategic Competition in the 21st Century,” which examines how competition over strategic technologies is influencing manufacturing, trade, semiconductor supply chains, and investment decisions across Malaysia and ASEAN. Tindaro Danze, President and CEO of Siemens Malaysia, Michael Thavarajah, Principal Engineer at Intel, and Dr Che Fai Yeong, CEO of DF Automation & Robotics, will also speak on AI investment, manufacturing readiness, Physical AI, and the adoption of advanced technologies.
October 15 turns to Semiconductors and Microelectronics, covering Malaysia’s position in the global semiconductor value chain and the capabilities needed to support its development. Green Technology and Smart Automation takes over on October 16, with discussions on combining automation and digitalisation with sustainability, efficiency, and resilience. The summit closes on October 17 with Governance, Talent and TVET 4.0, centred on the skills and institutional capabilities needed for higher-value industries and long-term industrial growth.
Tim Bostridge, Managing Director of Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific, said Selangor’s diversified industrial base, strategic location, skilled workforce, and supportive state policies give it a strong foundation for technological transformation. He pointed to a clear alignment between Malaysia’s industrial ambitions and Hannover Messe’s core themes, including AI-powered industrial transformation, sustainable manufacturing, smart energy, and innovation in production at scale, calling the summit a place where industrial innovation meets national policy and business outcomes.
Meanwhile, Dr Harizal, CEO of the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre, said the ambition goes beyond running another technology summit, with the goal of making STS 2026 a platform connecting Selangor and Malaysia with ASEAN and the wider global technology ecosystem, where international expertise meets Malaysian talent, industries find collaboration and investment opportunities, and young people can see themselves helping to create the future.
Alongside the conference programme, an industrial technology showcase covers AI, robotics and automation, smart manufacturing, industrial software, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, sustainable production, and advanced engineering. Exhibitors include Google Cloud Malaysia, Festo, Weidmüller, and Signode, alongside Malaysian technology and automation specialists. The summit also forms part of the wider Selangor International Business Summit 2026, creating further engagement opportunities between industry, government, investors, and technology providers.
Selangor Techsphere Summit 2026 is open to the public from October 14 to 17 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with complimentary access to the full conference programme and exhibition.
