HUAWEI Malaysia has officially launched the Watch 6 Series and the FreeBuds SE 5 Max today, with the new smartwatches leaning hard into health monitoring while staying classy and stylish.
The launch is joined by several research experts who shared data from Malaysia’s National Health and Morbidity Survey 2023, which detailed that 29.2% of adults live with hypertension, and 40.7% of them don’t know it, with the highest share of undiagnosed cases among adults aged 18 to 39.
To help close that awareness gap, the Watch 6 Series introduces both a Hypertension Risk Study and a Diabetes Risk Study, a first for a smartwatch in Malaysia. Huawei is also working with Sunway University to validate its wearable tech for hypertension risk screening in real-world settings.
Under the hood, the upgraded X-TAP combines a 20-level tactile sensor with a 12-channel PPG sensor. It powers Health Glance, which gives you a 60-second overview of 13 health metrics across basic, cardiovascular, endocrine, and respiratory health with a single tap. Morning Briefing, Physical Readiness Score, and Health Analysis help you make sense of the numbers.
The Watch 6 is the lighter option with Huawei’s EasyCross strap, while the Watch 6 Pro steps up to titanium alloy and nano-tech ceramic, with displays reaching up to 3,500 nits. Both use spherical sapphire glass. Built-in eSIM lets you take calls without your phone nearby, dual-phone connection keeps you linked to two smartphones, and Petal Maps handles navigation.
New Quick Flip, Pinch, and Slide gestures and the Celia assistant make everyday control easier. For training, there are more than 100 sports modes, from trail running and golf to freediving up to 40 meters, plus AI Workout Analysis. The Pro adds an Expedition app with route planning, offline maps, waypoint marking, and return navigation. Battery life runs up to seven days on 42mm models and up to 11 days on 46mm models.
Alongside the watches, the FreeBuds SE 5 Max offers up to 52dB Adaptive ANC, a six-microphone system for clearer calls, and Bluetooth 6.0 with dual-device connectivity. They’re Hi-Res Audio certified with LDAC support, last up to 10 hours per charge and 80 hours with the case, and carry IP55 protection.
