Realme is a relatively new player in town but due to their aggressiveness in doing things, Realme actually managed to secure the premiere right for MediaTek’s Helio P70 SoC, a chipset that is aimed towards the mid-range market of devices. This chipset will first be equipped in the upcoming Realme U1 smartphone.
The MediaTek Helio P70 SoC is confirmed to have these specs:
- 12nm fabrication process (learn more about why it matters here)
- Octa-core processor
- 4x Cortex-A73 @ 2.1GHz + 4x Cortex-A53 @ 2.0GHz
- Uses LPDDR4X memory
- Mali-G72 MP3 graphics
- 3x 900MHz GPU cores
From the information above, we can speculate a few things – the MediaTek Helio P70 is going to be a powerful mid-range chipset but on the expense of battery life since it’s actually quite high in terms of click speed. However, since it is using a 12nm process technology, the battery drainage could be unaffected compared to similar smartphones in the market.
In terms of graphics performance, we predict that it is going to be running at medium on PUBG Mobile. Triple GPU cores running at 900MHz is actually quite sufficient for many games in the market today.
We are delighted to partner with Realme to launch the World’s first MediaTek Helio P70 chipset powered smartphone. The P70 is the latest and most powerful chip in the MediaTek P-Series, and represents significant optimization and improvements in performance and power consumption. It is designed with stronger camera module support and better AI performance. As the Realme brand targets young users that have high expectations of smartphone performance, power consumption, and camera functions, Realme’ s platform will showcase the full potential of the Helio P70. Through this cooperation with Realme, MediaTek will continue to expand internationally.

As of now we will have to wait until Realme releases the new U1 smartphone so that we can take a look at the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset and find out what other specialty that MediaTek has baked into the chipset. Remember, specs and numbers alone do not tell the full story of a chipset – it is the architecture of the chipset that tells the story.
The Realme U1 however, was just launched in India and it has these specs:
- 6.3-inch LTPS IPS LCD display at 2340×1080 pixels in resolution with waterdrop notch
- MediaTek Helio P70 chipset
- Up to 4GB RAM
- Up to 64GB storage (expandable with microSD)
- Dual rear-facing cameras
- 13MP f/2.2 + 2MP depth sensor
- 25MP f/2.0 selfie camera
- 3,500mAh battery
