After a not-so-successful Facebook phone by (also) HTC, the upcoming successor of the HTC ChaCha will be released this 4th of April, named HTC Myst. As most of you have already predicted, the Facebook phone is just a phone with Facebook being its home screen – thus the “check out our new home on Android” on their invitation.

Android Police got an exclusive dump of the ROM, so let’s take a look at what we’re dealing with.

Facebook’s new phone – HTC Myst 3

Surprisingly, the HTC Myst might not even have buttons – be it capacitive or hard ones – since it has the complete Nexus-like soft keys on the screen itself. Since they do have the dump file, the specs of the phone is fully revealed without further questions!

  • Manufacturer: HTC

  • Model: MYSTUL (Myst_UL)

  • Carrier: AT&T

  • Platform: MSM8960 (Dual Core)

  • Ram: 1GB

  • Display: 4.3 inch @ 720p resolution

  • Android Version: 4.1.2

  • Sense Version: 4.5

  • Rear Camera = 5M

  • Front Camera = 1.6M

  • No SD Card

  • Bluetooth 4.0

  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n

Basically it’s nothing major, not something to even fret slightly about. A Facebook phone – sure, the approach is great since you can see HTC and Sony skinning their own custom interface with their own custom social media widget to make everything easy. Well, even BlackBerry Z10 has it! And when I make such comparison, I do mean that Facebook Home is also a reskin of the Android interface, though no idea on what videos will be available though.

Surprisingly, they found the search button image is with the Google writing – not Bing, which is a real puzzle since Facebook’s search is powered by Bing.
