We’ve seen a lot of headphones around here, but the Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum right here is a full-fledged 7.1 surround sound audio headphones with extra programmable keys and also RGB lighting! Certainly is flashy, but how does it really perform? Check out this review to learn all of its secrets!
Certainly lives up to its flashiness too. Open up the box and it’s the headphones itself right away!
Pro tip 2: Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum can be hooked up to your Android smartphone via a simple OTG cable. Everything works, except for the programmable buttons.
In another note, Logitech did include the best cable out there for their 3.5mm audio jack that has an in-line button, a microphone, and a bunch of other controls.

[nextpage title=”Listening test”]First of all, the Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum is a 7.1 surround sound headphone. I’m sure you already know that – but that’s not the main point. What I’m interested is the audio performance of course.
Let’s try listening without any sort of software magic to control. The usual again – Adventure Time by Rogue sounds a little boring at low volumes, but bringing it up makes the bass punchy and solid, and the highs sparkle magnificently.
Listening to some big band orchestra – specifically Cherokee by the BBC Big Band Orchestra, sounds absolutely stunning with the soundstage that a 7.1 system can provide. Of course, that’s absolutely cheating.
And yet I let it cheat away, because the Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum is capable of just giving the best sound ever. Firstly, the headphone sounds lame without any configuration. After doing some tweaking in the settings, it sounds absolutely amazing – by enabling surround sound on DTS Headphones instead, and using Logitech Signature Studio room to go along with DTS Super Stereo Mode on Wide setting. Cherokee sounded aboslutely different than the Dolby surround, and suddenly the hall just got bigger – that means the soundstage just gotten a lot larger!
While gaming however, it sounds absolutely great – the vocals are amazing, the experience on it is just magnificently well done. It just feels absolutely great while gaming, although higher pitched sounds doesn’t sound as good as my speakers do.

Yet I have to point out again – clamping force is too much, and the volume wheel is just way too soft and easily overturned to an excruciatingly high volume and cause ear damage. But the headphones create such great sound that I really forgot about the clamping force entirely. It’s just constantly producing great music to my ears, and I forget that I’m supposed to be doing my job and writing this review.
Just that it’s a little sad to know that using the 3.5mm audio jack means not that many flexibility in the sound. Dang, wish Logitech would include an OTG cable and make an app to control the headphones instead. You seriously don’t know what you’re missing if you never tweak it using the software while connected through USB.
[nextpage title=”Software”]I’d say the software is pretty straight forward, and Logitech managed to keep it as simple as possible. It works great actually.
The whole menu is presented with a big picture of the Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum, configurations for the macro keys, lighting control, and the 7.1 surround sound settings. Nothing else… or are there?
And I ain’t even mad. Remember the surround sound setting I told you on the Listening Test part? Here’s the full details on how it works.

Select whatever you want from here. It’s excellent that Logitech actually included both the surround sound systems together for one headphone. Yet the software is easy to use – with Dolby being the most verbose for manual controls, and then there’s the DTS Headphones for simple click-and-use settings. Either way, I still prefer the DTS Headphones settings that I have it now.
The software did manage to get some “recommended game profiles” for the programmable buttons though, which I find it quite pointless, given that the buttons are too awkward and difficult to press to begin with.
[nextpage title=”Wrap up”]It’s a touch conclusion to make. The Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum definitely sounds absolutely fantastic, but wearing it gives me a headache and indeed rather uncomfortable. Those programmable buttons are awkwardly positioned and requires way too much force to press, while the volume wheel is just too soft. RGB lighting for me is just unnecessary too.
However I’d highlight again that the sound that it produces is amazing, yet earcups are huge enough to engulf my entire ear in it. Did I mention that the sound quality is amazing when tweaked using the software?
