Here comes one higher-end headphone from Beyerdynamic. The trick up this one is that it is a lower impedance variant of the 3 siblings – 80 ohms instead of the 32 ohms or the 250 ohms version. Beyerdynamic is known to manufacture some of the finest headphones out in the market, and here we’re going to look into one of them – the DT 770 Pro.

The packaging again is huge, and I don’t blame them since this pair of headphones is actually quite huge.

Opening and digging out everything that is in the box, there is surprisingly very little accessories included. A user manual, another guarantee booklet, a product information booklet, a 3.5mm to 6.25 audio jack adapter, and the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm itself.

[nextpage title=”Design and comfort”]When it comes to the design choices, the DT 770 Pro has a rough and rugged surface, potentially to prevent scratches from showing up and also some sort of anti-finger print design.

Coming along the sides, it has to be pointed out that the size of the earcup is humongous – it can accommodate large ears like mine without any issues at all, and has a very nice, comfortable fit around the ears. The padding material used for the earcup is also thick and breathable too.

Going up along the side, the earcup height adjustments are notched – that means there are a few fixed adjustment levels available to use.

On the earcups themselves, they are supported by two metal hinge at both sides. The hinges are smooth and has a little bit of angle to fit the natural human ear shape.

There’s a metal structural band built inside the headphone, and it is very sturdy. Again, you can take out the padded headband around the metal structure to do some cleaning, or just swap it out for a new headband which you can order from Beyerdynamic.

To be frank, the comfort level of the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro is top notch – I wore this headphone for hours and felt no burden on my head. It feels like I wore a full leather-weighted orchestra across my head and clamped on both of my ears. However, throughout this test, it only fared out well while sitting still and with minimal head movement.

Then again – what’s the purpose of having ultimate comfort if we don’t know how it sounds?

[nextpage title=”Performance”]Michael Jackson’s Love Never Felt So Good in its piano version sound amazing. I can ever hear Michael Jackson’s breath, as there’s clearly a gush of wind into the microphone. Though heard on higher volumes, I don’t feel it distracting, but as if I am looking at him singing into the microphone at the adjacent room. The “pumped up” version – without Justin Timberlake – sounds extremely enjoyable!

Listening to another song – this time a little soft, is the Dam Keeper’s Friendship. It’s a very song that gave weird vibes – but good – all over me. It’s an orchestral song that brings out a very good balance in mids, highs, and also lows. Mids sound a little bit too bassy here, the bass strings struck beautifully in this musical masterpiece. The highs isn’t mindblowing, but it’s certainly decent enough for this song to be enjoyable.
Side note : If you have not watched The Dam Keeper, I recommend you to do so now.

Taking a trip into some rock song over, Muse’s Supermassive Black Hole sounds absolutely amazing with the flood of guitar rifts and drum hits to go alongside with some electronic music into it. The vocals were clearly heard throughout the entire song, and it makes me want to damage my eardrums with higher volumes over and over again.

Then comes a little relaxing music with heavy vocals and a lot of guitar plucking. Los Lobos’s Sabor A Mi sounds as if I have a mariachi band surrounding me around my seat in a restaurant, while I stare into whoever it is sitting on the chair at the opposite side of the table. Soundstage is extremely easy to pick up on this pair of headphones. Just sounds crisp and sharp.

[nextpage title=”Conclusion”]To be honest, the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm headphone is an amazing pair of headphones. It looks simple and durable, offered excellent comfort with great clamp around the ear, the padding is soft and breathable. The sound it produces is great for those who seek a flat frequency response, and offered a large auditorium for its excellent soundstage performance.

For RM950 for the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro, it’s at around the same price range of the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro that we reviewed before, but targeted at an entirely different group of audiophiles.
