zenfone 2 (1)

Here we are at Jakarta, and we’re here for precisely one event in particular – the launch of ASUS’s all-new ZenFone 2. It wouldn’t be surprising if I told you that the ZenFone 2 is packed with the best hardware in a very beautifully ergonomical design. Let’s take a brief look into why I said that.

Of course, that will mean the back of the ZenFone 2 – with the most prominent difference being the volume rocker placed at the back instead of the side. This design cue is something that I personally always have wanted, and surprised that Asus actually delivered.

Then, a curved back with textured backplate. It might not seem much, but these two elements add a lot more grip and to prevent from it slipping away from sweaty palms. The camera had a upgrade to 13MP with two-tone flash. A new feature that has been added which I really like is the Super Resolution feature where takes a picture that is 52MP large. Bring in the macro shots!

At the front of the phone, there’s another upgrade – the front-facing camera is now bumped up to 5MP for all that selfie goodness. Also, we can take panorama selfies together now! 140º to fit all of our faces together in one photo, okay?

Then at the bottom, there’s the great concentric circle design again which I really like. Attention to detail does matter.

The power button centered at the top with the 3.5mm audio jack at the side and a microphone at the other side. Even the power button has the concentric circle design!

At its thinnest edge, it’s really thin – only 3.9mm thin. With this thinness, it did not abruptly curve – but it is curved ever so slightly to give off the feel of continuity.

That’s all about the looks, but let’s get into the list of specs. There are a total of three different ZenFone 2 variants, but we’re only listing the one with the highest tier.

  • Intel Atom Z3580 2.3GHz quad-core processor (trigate transistors!)
  • PowerVR G6430 graphics
  • 5.5-inch IPS display with 1920×1080 resolution; 403ppi
  • 4GB RAM (64-bit dual-channel LPDDR3)
  • Rear camera : 13MP f/2.0 with two-tone flash
  • Front camera : 5MP f2.0 with 85º wide-angle
  • Supports Cat4 LTE; bands 850/900/1900/2100
  • Has dual active SIM support
  • Has microSD expansion
  • 3000mAh battery

This variant is announced to be priced at 4,499,999 rupiah – that translates into RM1262, giving its close competitors like the OnePlus One a run for its money.

Also, it comes with a total of 5 different colours –  Glacier Gray / Osmium Black / Glamour Red / Ceramic White / Sheer Gold.

With all these power that the ZenFone 2 offers, you can never go wrong.
