There are way too many aspects where the ZenFone 2 stands out above the entire market – even the highest of the high-end smartphones available in the market today. However, I’ll pick my top 5 features from the ZenFone 2, and share it with you today.
Before that – when I mean feature, it’s not software alone – but also the hardware too. In no particular order, here is the top 5 ZenFone 2 features that I truly fell in love with.
1. Super Resolution
The PixelMaster camera is something to behold – and ASUS knows this.
See What Others Can’t See.
Making this the main selling point of original ZenFone, this is the pride of the entire ZenFone series. Being a skeptic at first, I had to see it for myself to believe what it can really do.
By using very sophisticated algorithms, the ZenFone 2 is able to create a 52MP photo with very high clarity. The picture shown above is actually coffee beans, which we can actually see the bean’s texture. This feature can also be used to capture high clarity sceneries. Then, immortalize the amazing Super Resolution photo by printing it out, then hang it up for display.
2. Custom backplates
There’s something about the ZenFone 2 which I can’t resist myself from looking at it. The ZenFone 2 has a little something special that will definitely capture the hearts of many – including myself. Other than the usual brushed aluminium back cover that come with 5 different colours – black, gold, grey, red, and white – there are other colours too.
Introducing, the Fusion series of backplates. Who said one colour is enough? Might as well add 50 shades of lime-to-white or pink-to-peach. It certainly looks like a beverage too!
But wait – there’s another one.
Introducing the Illusion series. All of them are have different textures, and has a completely different speaker grill design for each and every design of the backplate. My hands are itching to just touch and feel each and every single backplates available.
My personal favourite is the faceted white backplate. Just fell in love when I saw it.
3. ZenMotion
Coming from a perspective of a custom ROM user and lover for over 6 years in the Android operating systems, I realize there is a trend that most of the amazing features are tested by custom ROM developers first, and then got adopted by manufacturers. Certain manufacturers embraced this, just like what ASUS did with the ZenFone 2.
Touch gesture-based navigation when the device is in standby mode. Navigate to whatever apps you want with a simple gesture – that’s all you need.
Of course, that’s not all. The ZenFone 2 has motion gesture-based shortcuts as well. Dubbed “Shake shake to add to Do It Later”, the ZenFone 2 is a productivity beast
4. SnapView
Many of us would like to eliminate the hassle of carrying two separate devices – one for work, and another for personal usage. That’s one of the motive on why dual-SIM phones were created.
What if the ZenFone 2 can have work and play in one single device, but independent of each other whilst keeping in touch?
Unlike other solutions of changing profiles and whatnot, SnapView creates two separate spaces, so that your personal files won’t get mixed up with work-related files, yet has the ability to unify all notifications that come to the phone. Neat feature even for students maintain a distraction-free phone environment during studies!
5. Manual mode
I’ve talked about ASUS’s pride on the ZenFone’s camera, and I think they’re heading somewhere. We only have a few other high-end smartphones that can do this.
ASUS knows this, and introduces the Manual Mode on the ZenFone 2. Seeing this just made me nerdgasm. For me, I would like total control of how I want to snap the photo and get the best image from the camera – and that’s where Manual Mode comes in.
Shutter speed, white balance controls, ISO control, manual focus, contrast control, all these good things that are only available on expensive devices. Now, all you need is a ZenFone 2, and we can all take pixel-perfect pictures in one shot.
The ZenFone 2 is to be on sale this 9th of May, however there are no official pricing yet.
