Well, just the colour though. Everyone knew that Huawei is going to bring in their all new Mate S, but what else did they bring? Let’s start off with the Huawei Mate S.
Huawei Mate S
It’s a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution smartphone powered by Huawei’s in-house chipset, the Hisilicon Kirin 935 octacore to go along with the Mali 628 graphics. The whole phone comes with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage – not the highest amount of RAM, but it’ll do.
Then comes the battery – it’s only 2,700mAh battery, and this might be a little subpar compared to the ubiquitously found 3,000mAh battery capacity.
The only colour that the Mate S comes in – for now at least – is only in gold colour. Not sure why Huawei is fond on gold all of a sudden, but here it is. The Mate S itself also has an optical image stabilizer and an RGBW sensor too – which is more than welcome for a flagship smartphone these days.
Yet the flagship status doesn’t come with a flagship price tag of a hefty RM2,698. Hefty price, but the phone really does feel really good in the hands!
Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0
A tablet which is again gold in colour – though Huawei does offer a silver option. It has an 8-inch IPS display with 1920×1200 resolution, powered by Hisiicon Kirin 930 chipset and 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage, to go together with a microSD card slot that can expand up to 128GB.
It’s actually very nice to hold too, yet it’s sleek and the theme really matches the device’s colour.
Battery is a little tiny – 4,800mAh is all you get – but it has the outstanding audio technology from the guys over at Harman Kardon! Huawei also developed their own high-quality audio codec, the Hi6402.
Pretty affordabale tablet too – priced at only RM1,499 only.
Huawei G8
A mid-range device that sports a 5.5-inch, 1080p TFT display that is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 chipset and even has 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage. Also sports a 3,000mAh battery!
Yet hey, it only costs RM1,499!
When Huawei brings golden devices, they really do mean golden devices – seriously, all of them are gold in colour! However the G8 does come in grey colour too, if gold isn’t your style.
