With the recent announcement of the OPPO R9s with the “Now It’s Clear” mantra, OPPO is now continuing that trend of focusing on the rear-facing camera.7mm thin! OPPO also created a new OIS technology where the prism and the telephoto lens intelligently sense vibrations and compensate in real time. OPPO also claims that the mechanisms can dynamically adjust its angle at precise increments of 0.0025°.
While OPPO is not the first to create a periscope-like structure for zooming, they’re surely the first one to cramp in both a telephoto lens with periscope-like structure and a wide-angle lens into one single module. From now on then, we wonder – when will this technology come to our smartphones? I don’t have a specific estimated time for you. But from what I can say, it’ll come by the end of this year at its soonest. Or maybe in about 3 months or so, if OPPO had already started implementing the 5x Dual-Camera Zoom system into its upcoming smartphones.
As of now, we do not have any comparison or sample photos to show you, but I’ll definitely share it with you all when we get our hands on them.
Will OPPO even license this technology to other smartphone manufacturers?
Who knows? Only time will tell, and we’ll surely update you on this matter.
