Huawei is actually not new to the notebook industry. They’ve debuted the original MateBook few years ago, and Huawei is getting serious about laptops now. It even has a quad-speaker setup.
Huawei also told us that the MateBook D has a spill-resistant keyboard. However, unlike the MateBook X Pro, the webcam is placed at the usual position – which is above the screen.
In terms of ports, the MateBook D comes with a USB-C (for charging as well), full-sized HDMI port, and a USB-A on the left side, and another USB-A together with a 3.5mm combo jack on the right. I’m surprised by how sleek the MateBook D is since there are no icons or logos printed beside these ports.
The MateBook D also comes equipped with a 56Wh battery that supports QuickCharge. The charger is rated at 20V at 3.5A, equating it to a maximum 65W power output.
Once again, we know that both the MateBook X Pro and the MateBook D are coming to Malaysia – but we do not have the prices or availability date just yet. It’s interesting to see a new contender come to Malaysia, and we’re interested to know how well they’ll perform as well.
