I made the switch to Spotify a few months ago, and I have to say that my experience with it has been pleasant. Not until a few days ago though. With Spotify’s new update, it brought in some major annoyance with Windows 10’s integrated audio controls. Let’s take a look at what this is.
If you’re using Windows 10 on tablet mode, any sort of media control – be it volume or track seeking, a small pop up will appear at the top left corner. This is the native audio control built into Windows 10. Till now, not many 3rd party apps take advantage of this feature, but Spotify jumped in.
While I can understand that this is an attempt to appeal towards convertible devices, this is more annoying to me, actually. As of now, there is no option to disable this feature. I feel its annoyance for just being there for an extended period of time, and blocking my clicks!
Seriously Spotify/Windows or maybe some tweaker like Winaero, please give us an option to disable this!
[UPDATE 12th December 2016]: I just realized there is an option to disable it!
Head on over to Preferences, and scroll all the way down to the bottom. Look out for the Display Options category. What you’re looking for is the Show desktop overlay when using media keys option.
Once you’ve disabled that, that annoying thing won’t appear anymore!
