I never thought SHARP smartphones would make it to Malaysia. Today, they’ve proven me otherwise, with the launch of both the SHARP Z2 and the SHARP M1. Both are 5.5-inch devices, but with a very different set of specs.
SHARP Z2
This is a smartphone build around a metal chassis. It feels good in the hands, and looks decent. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p LTPS display, powered by a MediaTek MT6797 deca-core processor (dual-core+ 2 x quad-core) coupled with 4GB of RAM. For its camera, there’s a 16MP with PDAF on the rear, and another 8MP camera with f/1.8 aperture for all your beautiful selfies. Not bad.
Other than that there’s a 3,000mAh battery, 32GB storage with microSD expansion slot, and dual-SIM capability. Not sure if the 2nd SIM card slot is shared with the microSD card slot or not though.
The SHARP Z2 comes in both gold and silver colours, and retails for only RM 1,199!
SHARP M1
As for the SHARP M1, it’s the Z2’s distant cousin – as it takes on a much different glass design. At first glance, it looks and shapes awfully similar to the Xiaomi Mi5 and Galaxy Note 5. That glass back is curved towards the two sides! That doesn’t feel sharp at all!
Anyway, the SHARP M1 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p LTPS display just like the Z2, powered by MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and has 64GB of storage. The camera however uses a 13MP sensor on both rear- and front-facing cameras.
Other than that, it has a 2,600mAh, dual-SIM and microSD card slot. Again, not sure if the microSD card slot is shared with the SIM 2 slot or not.
The SHARP M1 is priced at only RM899, and available in both white and pink!
Both of these smartphones will be available starting early November!
