There’s two part to this story – first, Lenovo’s launch of their brand new desktop in the Y-series lineup. Secondly, it’s their partnership with Garena, Intel to bring you a League of Legends championship called “League of Champions”. The second part to the second story is Lenovo’s partnership with Microsoft to be platinum sponsors of ESL One Genting, a Dota 2 tournament organized by largest video game event company in the world.
Let’s get started with the Lenovo Y710 Cube first.
Lenovo Y710 Cube
The Lenovo Y710 Cube is lenovo’s answer to a portable VR-ready desktop. It’s made to be carried around while having great performance, and I can see that the Lenovo Y710 Cube is clearly aimed towards LAN parties.
The specs on the Lenovo Y710 Cube isn’t something to be dismissed either. They got pretty much everything right, except for the lack of an SSD – at list in the list of specifications they provided us. Of course, it can be upgraded in the future, since it’s a desktop anyway.

Partnerships
In the words of Bruce Howe, General Manager, Consumer Channel Group, Microsoft Malaysia, he said that “the global gaming market is worth US$99.6 billion, in which APAC contributes 47%”. It’s an intense amount of money, and everyone wants a cut of it. So, Lenovo is jumping in the bandwagon with a few partnerships.
Firstly is their partnership with Garena and Intel to bring the League of Champions, a tournament for League of Legends. Gamers around the region are encouraged to participate and play against the best in the region to compete for the finals in Bangkok on 13-15 January 2017.
Registration has already begun and can be made online. Follow Lenovo Malaysia on Facebook for more updates of League of Champions.
Secondly, is their partnership with Microsoft to be platinum sponsors for ESL One Genting, a Dota 2 tournament. Lenovo will be hosting two competitions to bring fans of Dota 2 to the ESL One Genting Tournament. Two lucky winners will receive a Lenovo Gaming mouse and a Gaming headset, and stand a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to the ESL Genting One finals when they purchase selected IdeaPads.
The ESL One Genting Tournament will be taking place on Friday, 6 January to Sunday, 8 January 2017 at the Arena of Stars, Resort World, Genting, Malaysia.
