I have a confession to make. I’m currently eyeing a few AM4 motherboards, and I’m pretty much settled for B350 chipset in terms of features. When it comes to motherboards, however, there are many other useful features like USB 3.1 Gen 2 not included with lower-tiered B350 boards, or just plain crappy VRMs. Then come the ASUS ROG STRIX X370-F and ROG STRIX B350-F motherboards.

These two motherboards are actually quite fantastic, to be honest. Firstly by looking at its aesthetics, the STRIX X370-F has a shield around the I/O ports at the rear whereas the STRIX B350-F does not. However, other things looks pretty much the same.

For example, both boards feature two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, M.2 slot that is not below the graphics card, and an enhanced version of the Realtek ALC1220 audio codec what ASUS dubs it to be the S1220A audio codec with SupremeFX audio technology.

So you might be wondering – what’s the difference between these two motherboards? Firstly, both the STRIX X370-F and STRIX B350-F are high-performance boards with a sleek black look. There are a few difference like the rear I/O shield with an RGB strip, support for ECC RAM, Q LEDs to troubleshoot the cause of system booting failure (useful for overclocking!), standby power LED, more SATA III ports, USB 3.1 Gen 2 front panel connectors, and SLI on the STRIX X370-F. If you don’t need these features, then jump on over to the STRIX B350-F instead.

The STRIX B350-F is seriously looking great!

They both have a total of 5 fan headers placed around the motherboard, and a total of 2 RGB LED strips for all your ASUS Aura goodness. Also, they both features 5-Way Optimization with one-click overclocking, third-gen T-Topology, comprehensive software and firmware controls for fans, AIOs, and water pumps, for intelligently cooled systems.

The ROG Strix X370-F Gaming is available now at RM999.
The ROG Strix B350-F Gaming is available now at RM697.

Now I can’t wait to get my hands on this motherboard. Damn.
