A little shorter than a year ago, ASUS announced the first ever ROG Masters event. That was when I brought my custom-modded Ducky One TKL non-backlit to the event and got it signed by Team Secret. Now, ASUS Republic of Gamers is announcing ROG Masters 2017. Here’s what you need to know.
Firstly, they increased the prize pool to USD $500,000, with a half-half split between the two games. That’s more than double of the first ROG Masters! Secondly, they’re still sticking to the two same games as last year – Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. We did voice out if they’re planning to add other e-sports game like Overwatch, but personally, I don’t think Overwatch is still ready for prime time just yet – especially their spectator view.
The ROG Masters 2017 will be open to four continental qualifiers and 30 national qualifiers starting June 2017. The grand finals will take place in November just like last year, with the prize pool of USD $500,000. Seriously, that amount is insane.
Teams will compete for a total of 4 phases – starting with the open qualifiers, then to the regional qualifiers, then regional finals, and then the grand finals.
So you might be asking which countries are included? Luckily, the ROG Masters 2017 website lists all of them out very clearly.
These are the information that we have for now, and we’ll update this post when we have more information. Until then, stay tuned for further updates!
