Ever wondered what’s the next technological advancement after CRTs have evolved into current flat screen OLED displays? Samsung has an idea – why not make them so thin and sleek, that it’s like a picture frame? Introducing, Samsung’s “The Frame”.

So you might be wondering – what’s in the world is this The Frame that costs so much?! The answer is simple – it’s a really flat TV that is meant to be hung on the wall, has wood as the bezels that make it appear like a picture frame.

Simple enough? Here’s the fancy technology that goes into making The Frame. As it is turned off, The Frame wouldn’t just power off and fade to black. Instead, it can display up to 100 exclusive works of art by 37 renowned designers or whatever pictures you want it to display. It can be controlled via your smartphone through an app.

As the main objective is to fool people into thinking that The Frame is indeed a picture frame, Samsung equipped it with adaptive brightness and has a few customizable frames – beige wood, walnut, and white. With Samsung’s “No Gap Wall-mount”, The Frame can be hung on the wall with literally no gap between the TV and the wall – just like a picture frame. To make it even more elegant, there’s  something called Invisible Connection, where a transparent optical cable connects the One Connect Box and integrates with all other devices.

So what’s the price of The Frame? There are two sizes, actually. The 55-inch version is at RM9,999, whereas the 65-inch version is priced at RM14,999.

Crazily priced? Not really, considering that the technology behind it is unheard of until now. I’m sure Samsung had to go through a lot of engineering challenges to get it this thin and mounted to the wall with no gaps. Such technology just makes me feel good.
