Did any of you go to Berjaya Times Square over the weekend? I did – because Razer’s launch of the zGold-MOLPoints AFK @ Malaysia event was happening there! Obviously, it’s more than just a launch as Razer showcased their full range of hardware, software, and services. There were also cosplays and games for you to play, too!

Anyway, a brief introduction on what the zGold-MOLPoints is all about. The idea behind it is simple, but to have a proper execution like what Razer has done is really difficult.

Look at those Overwatch gear 😉

Razer’s idea is a virtual currency that functions more like an aggregated currency across multiple games. The problem is, these games are developed by different companies and each of them has their own in-app purchases with their own currency. zGold pretty much aggregates all of them together – so if you have a zGold wallet, then you can use your zGold to pay for other games’ purchases!

Now, as zGold enters Malaysia, Razer has appointed MOLPoints to be the master distributor. MOLPoints has rebranded zGold-MOLPoints to leverage Razer’s leadership in the gaming space.

As the relationship is mutually beneficial, this virtual currency can now be purchased from over 1 million points of purchase in 17 countries. Not only that, we can now use zGold-MOLPoints in over 2,500 content titles from MOL network, too.

But wait – there’s something you must know.

According to Razer themselves, Razer zGold and zGold-MOLPoints are 2 separate virtual credits under a common Razer zGold brand. Users will be able to choose between the respective virtual credits to pay for digital content. zGold-MOLPoints will continue its key focus in serving users in South East Asia, such as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines. There is no change in reload process flow for zGold-MOLPoints users after the rebranding.

Also, did any attendees here went to the zGold-MOLPoints AFK @ Malaysia and got your peripherals signed?
