During the Neffos’s Summer Launch 2018 last week, we were surprised that Neffos showed off a prototype smartphone that they’re calling the Neffos P1. It’s not just any smartphone – it’s a smartphone that doubles as a projector.
We actually saw something similar from the Samsung Galaxy Beam and Lenovo before with the YOGA TAB 3 Pro that we reviewed years back. However, that’s a tablet. And with newer technologies, Neffos might be able to pull it off this time around.
The Neffos P1 uses American military-grade micro-electro-mechanical system or MEMS laser technology and a three-color beam light to produce a clear and high-resolution picture on a flat wall or screen.
To produce the most vivid and detailed picture possible, the Neffos P1 achieves a contrast ratio of 5,000:1, which is much higher than what a standard digital-light-processing or DLP projector is capable of producing. The typical DLP projector has a native contrast ratio of 400:1. However, the rear-facing camera looks… bulky. It uses a single rear-facing camera for now, but once again the hardware isn’t finalized yet. The Neffos P1 is still in prototype stage.
The specs, estimate arrival date, or price has been given yet. We’ll have to wait longer to know what the Neffos P1 is really about.
