One of my favorite phones last year was the OPPO Find X9 Pro. It takes good pics, has good performance, pretty good software, all of that stuff. But what if OPPO took it a step further in all aspects? Ah, then we have this – the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max.
It’s better in every single way – so let’s take a look at how much further OPPO pushed the smartphone industry with this new release. I mean that literally, and you’ll find out why in this review.
Specs and performance
One of the main highlights of this OPPO Find X10 Pro Max is the specs. If I’m not wrong, it’s the first phone equipped with the latest 2nm MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro in the market. Everyone is curious about its performance – and so am I. So, we did the gaming test to find out how the performance is.

To my surprise, this chipset is working really well. Genshin Impact, at the highest graphical settings, is basically 60fps throughout the entire game. From what I can see, the power consumption is also lower, at only 5W while walking around, though combat sections do spike the power consumption a bit – which is to be expected.
Obviously, COD Mobile is also going to be at practically locked 120fps throughout the entire gameplay of Battle Royale with the maximum graphical settings. Again, we’ve expected this – but the power consumption is the key here. It’s only taking around 4.5W average. Actually, thinking back, we should’ve tested multiplayer mode since this OPPO Find X10 Pro Max comes with a 144Hz refresh rate display.
Then comes Zenless Zone Zero. This phone will have to do shader caching, hence the stutters at the beginning. This happens on all devices – even on my gaming PC, so I’m, not surprised that it happens here as well. The frame rate is above 45FPS – so no problems there. But we’ll return to this later.
Wuthering Waves actually performs really well in this phone. We’re getting frame rates similar to the iPhone 18 Pro with the A20 Pro chipset, and it I was surprised by it. It’s never lower than 30fps even during the super intense nest fight.
Do note that the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max has two-stage throttling, once at 41°C where it reduces the brightness and limit the performance a bit, then another more aggressive throttling at 47°C – which actually took a really long time to reach.
We also tested a lot more games, so check out the full gaming test. Also, do hit that like and subscribe button as we’re going to have a lot more videos and tests.
Battery life
One big improvement that OPPO has is the battery capcity. Seriously, the OPPO Find X10 series comes with 8,000mAh. Yes, both the X10 and the X10 Pro Max. I love you for this, OPPO.

Anyway, this 8,000mAh battery is also rated for 29.76Wh – and in our standardised battery life test, it lasts the longest that I’ve seen so far – 30 hours and 44 minutes. The battery capacity isn’t the main star of the show here – the chipset efficiency is. When we calculated the average power consumption throughout the entire test, it resulted in 0.8230W. It’s crazy to see this number drop below 1W. The OPPO Find X9 Pro from last year was at around 0.8742W- so this is a great improvement.

In terms of the battery life and efficiency, OPPO did a really good job here.
Charging speed
As for the charging speed, there are 3 different tests that we did. The first one is with the included 80W SuperVOOC charger with al lthe default settings – and it took around 95 minutes to charge from 15% to completion. Pretty good, and it doesn’t seem to throttle the charging speed as well.

Now, in the settings menu, we can turn up the charging speed to the maximum. It actually cuts down the charging time by around 20 minutes, and it seems like there is no negative effect, as the temperature is still around 37.5°C max, and the charging curve is very linear.

When we swapped over to our USB-PD PPS charger, it’s very comparable to the stock SuperVOOC charger. The Find X10 Pro Max will only take around 42W at most, yet the time taken to charge from 15% to completion is very similar to what we had before. The battery temperature is a tad bit higher at 38°C – but nothing to worry about in the grand scheme of things.

Once more, I gotta say OPPO did a good job here. Even though they do have their own proprietary charging standard, we can also use USB-PD PPS to get a very similar charging speed. This isn’t new either, as OPPO has been supporting USB-PD PPS flawlessly for the past few years – and we can also use any USB-PD PPS charger to enable the bypass charging feature.

Screen
As for the screen, this phone comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772×1272 pixels and also goes up to 144Hz refresh rate. OPPO did a lot of finetuning to the display – but we’ll talk about them when the time comes.

The max brightness is actually not that high, only around 1012 nits at most. While this sounds bad… we can actually turn on its HDR brightness and then it can shoot up all the way to 1920 nits. Yeah, it’s blindingly bright while viewing HDR content. It can also go to around 0.98 nits minumum – so you can tell your eyes to relax in the dark.

Now, this phone has a total of 3 different color profiles. I tested all of them. Starting with the Standard color profile, it’s going to give a very desaturated look since the DCI-P3 color gamut coverage is only at 76.8%.

For this generation, the natural color profile has a bit more difference as it is even more desaturated than the natural color profile, only covering 73.56% of DCI-P3. Again, some people like this kind of look so you can opt for that if you want to.

The vivid color profile will shoot up the DCI-P3 color gamut coverage to 96.72%, making it look very saturated. Actually I’d say some people would prefer an in-between saturation, somewhere around 85-ish% DCI-P3 would be better. For some people like me, colors that are too saturated can be tiring to my eyes.

Either way, the vivid color profile also covers 85.75% of Adobe RGB and has support for BT.2020 support – which is to say, very wide color gamut coverage compared to the standard BT.709 color gamut.
Software
The software is something that I wish I have more time to test and talk about as OPPO has upgraded to ColorOS 17 on top of Android 17, and brought a lot of new features alongside. We have all of the usual features like the side button that can be configured, AI Mind Space that I actually find it to be superbly useful, and also super smooth animations all over.

In ColorOS 17, OPPO also opted to use the “enhanced” animation speed by default. No wonder I didn’t feel that the animations were taking too much of my time when I first started using this phone.

Either way, we have a few new features now. One of it is the Mind Pilot. It’s basically a wrapper that connects our phone to Manus AI or ChatGPT. What’s amazing is that the Mind Pilot has access to all of the files inside our phone with context awareness – as in it can read the contens of the files. So imagine a PDF file with a specific transaction on a specific date that you want to find, but the file name is some random gibberish. We can ask the Mind Pilot to find that particular transaction for us.

Or more relatable yet, find pictures of with a particular type of subject in it, or pictures from a particular location. It will run through the tokens, so use it sparingly.

OSee is another feature that we have. Kinda like Google Lens in concept, but this OSee can do a lot more things than just finding things online. Like this flower pic for example, it can bring up all these details by just looking at the picture. Amazing stuff.
Camera
Okay, the cameras. We already did a separate video about this – but let’s run through it real quick. We have triple 200MP sensors alongside some really good lenses. That in itself doesn’t sound like much, but it’s what OPPO did with the camera sensors through software.

To have a look at all the pictures taken with the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max, watch this video instead. Yes, we have a separate video about the camera capabilities alone.
Design
Everything that we mentioned here is packed within this design of a phone. I honestly think that it looks very good here, especially with the Luna White color. We have the orange band around the camera bump which surprisingly doesn’t protrude out that much, and there’s also an OPPO | Hasselblad branding at the side too.

But there is another color called the Titanium Grey, and it has a slightly different design. You see this gap between the two islands? Yeah, the Luna White has this design, but the Titanium Grey has a completely different design.

This affects the Hasselblad Teleconverter Kit, as the case is made for the Luna White color only, but not the Titanium Grey color. At least that’s what I found out during my hands-on time with that teleconverter kit anyway.
So my advice is – get the Luna White color.
A few more things to mention
And a few more things to mention about the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max. We have a USB 3 port at the bottom so file transfers are extremely quick – and it also can mirror the phone or extend it as a desktop mode too. We’ll need an external keyboard and mouse for this – so it’s useful if you have a setup like mine.

And as usual, this phone has dual SIM card slots alongside eSIM support which is great for travelers, and also an IR blaster at the back too. Handy.

Should you buy the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max?
So then, should you buy the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max? Well, when I say that OPPO pushed the industry forward, I mean it. This phone has great performance and efficiency with the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, great battery life with its massive 29.76Wh battery, great cameras that takes amazing pictures in all scenarios – especially macro shots.

If you really like this phone, then go for it. I love this phone too, and I want to get it myself – but the price is what’s holding me back. Seriously, when I say OPPO pushed the industry forward, I mean the price as well. At RM6,999, this is the absolute most expensive 512GB phone that we have to date. The current memory crisis is not helping either, and this is just the latest victim of this crisis. We can get a free Bambu Lab A1 Mini 3D printer or OPPO Pad SE during this promotional period… but the price is still sky-high to begin with.
Again, if you like this phone and you have the money to get it – then go for it. It’s a fantastic phone.
