A hearty congratulations to Transcend as they’ve just won the Good Design Award 2018 with their latest product, the Transcend JetDrive 855 SSD upgrade kit for MacBooks. It was first announced not too long ago, and we raised our appreciation for Transcend as they’ve bundled an enclosure alongside with the removable Mac SSD.
The Good Design Award Jury offered the following praise: “With the concept of ‘reusing’, the idea that Transcend JetDrive 855 offers a solution for internal SSD upgrade and exchange is interesting and attractive. It’s also highly evaluated that Transcend JetDrive 855 is designed with a new idea of usage and brings convenience to users.”
The all new Transcend JetDrive 855 actually consists of two parts – the JetDrive 850 NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD, and also an enclosure for the JetDrive 850 NVMe SSD that is connected via Thunderbolt port. The Transcend JetDrive 855 is designed specially for a few generations of Mac computers as they’re using the same proprietary internal SSD connector and also has a Thunderbolt port.
The JetDrive 850 can have read and write speeds of up to 1,600MB/s and 1,400MB/s, thanks to the latest 3D NAND flash that it is made of. JetDrive 855 adopts a sleek aluminum Thunderbolt enclosure for a simple upgrade experience. Both models are the perfect upgrade for a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Mini, or Mac Pro.
Our partner already reviewed the Transcend JetDrive 820 and is currently reviewing the JetDrive 855 already. We’re looking forward for the review and so far, the JetDrive 855 is looking to be awesome.
