Today is the day – TGV’s 35th cinema in Malaysia has just been officiated in Central i-City at Shah Alam. It is radically different from the usual TGV Cinemas as it has many different parts to augment your cinema experience – particularly while waiting for the movie to start.
TGV also relaunched the TGV MovieClub with new features and extending. Sign-up is free and comes with lifetime membership and extended reward validity for upto 2 years. Other benefits to name a few include earning MovieMovie on all transactions and access to Advance Sales on selected titles.
This new TGV Cinema brings forth a few different kinds of radical changes:
- Royal Selangor and Chatime is inside TGV Cinema, bringing in a retail experience into the cinema hall itself.

Family-friendly hall
Let’s first start off by explaining to you what is the new family-friendly hall. In this case, TGV Cinemas has createda secondary home for the little ones. This hall also has a playroom that is adjacent to the cinema hall. With that said, there are diaper-changing areas in the cinema hall itself too.
Comes with seats specially designed for the little ones and there are also round bed-like seats as well. Very comfortable, if you ask me.
Samsung ONYX
This is Samsung’s best-in-class display for the perfect cinema viewing experience as the Samsung ONYX is using the world’s largest LED screen. Samsung has been a pioneer in the world of LED displays for years now and the ONYX Cinema LED screen in this cinema has a size of 45.93 feed wide and 16.4 feet high. It is also the world’s first DPI-compliant HDR LED theater. It has a peak brightness of 146fL (foot-Lambert) too.
With that said, LED screens have the best contrast as too since its black colors are really just the pixels turned off. The black color is really just black. No light at all.
The Samsung ONYX cinema hall here also has a very comfortable recliner chair with lots of leg space. Depending on which row you are seated, you can adjust your seat to get the best and most comfortable viewing experience.
On a side note, this TGV Cinema in i-City Mall Shah Alam also has lots of Samsung charging stations scattered throughout the vicinity. There are lots of wireless charging pads and also a few USB-powered charging ports too. You can sit around the lounge and charge your device(s) while waiting for your movie.
IMAX
IMAX has this iconic massive floor-to-ceiling screen that has 26% more more visual real estate than any other big-screen format in the world. Literally, the entire wall is the screen itself.
It also has an immersive sound system as its bass can really vibrate your butt. There are laser-aligned speaker placements to cater to the specific hall, so that you will get the most optimum surround sound experience guaranteed.
