Let’s take a look at the brand new Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro here. We know about this smartphone as the Redmi K20 Pro in other regions – but it is donning the name of Mi 9T Pro here. It’s technically a beefed-up version of the Mi 9T as they both look identical.

Also, remember that we’re also hosting a live stream on the Xiaomi Global Store at Shopee on 27th August, 8pm. We’ll be talking about the brand new Mi 9T Pro, and I heard there will be giveaways too!

Anyway, for us Malaysians, the Mi 9T Pro will have this list of specs:

  • 6.39-inch AMOLED screen
    • 1080p in resolution
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 855
    • 8-layer graphite cooling system
  • 6GB RAM
  • Up to 128GB of storage (no microSD card slot)
  • Triple rear-facing cameras
    • Main: 48MP f/1.75 with Sony IMX586 sensor
    • Telephoto: 8MP f/2.4 with 2x optical zoom and autofocus
    • Ultrawide angle: 13MP f/2.4 with fixed focus
  • 20MP f/2.2 selfie camera
  • 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support
    • 18W fast charging included
  • Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10

We got our hands early on the Mi 9T Pro and we can say that it literally looks and feels the same as the Mi 9T. It still comes in 3 different colors – Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, and Flame Red but they’ve also added a new Pearl White here.

We have both Flame Red and Glacier Blue on our hands!

One notable change from the Mi 9T is the main 48MP camera sensor. It has been upgraded from Sony IMX582 to Sony IMX586 and is able to capture 4K 60fps videos now. Combined with a gimbal and a proper app, the Mi 9T Pro can be a formidable video factory.

Another noticeable change here is the upgrade from maximum support of 18W fast charging (Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0) to Xiaomi’s proprietary 27W fast charging as seen on the Mi 9. We have reviewed this 27W charger and found out that it doesn’t really make much difference from QuickCharge 3.0.

If we are to compare the Mi 9T Pro with the Mi 9, there are a few more differences between these two flagship smartphones. Firstly, the Mi 9T Pro has an audio jack which is something that is essential for gaming. More about the importance of audio jack here.

Secondly, the Mi 9T Pro does not have a notch – which means you get even better gaming experience out of it. Tying in with the third point is the 4,000mAh battery – which means even longer game times. However, the Mi 9T Pro does not support wireless charging.

From the looks of it, the brand new Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro will be the replacement of Pocophone. The price of the brand new Mi 9T Pro is really low, and I have no doubt that this will be the next go-to smartphone for an affordable smartphone with Snapdragon 855 chipset.
