Rumour has it that Apple, Google, Facebook and Microsoft were at the arena recently competing for the most successful social GPS maps and traffic app, Waze. The app is well-known for telling where the traffic is better and worse, having games while driving so your drive to work won’t feel like a chore and even telling your friends the estimated time of arrival.
The company got acquired by the winner in the arena, surprisingly Google, even though they have their own navigation app and traffic feed, acquired Waze for a hefty $1.3b. That’s RM4.05 billion right there!
Since Google acquired Waze, it’s obviously that Google wants to bring a better and more accurate experience to Google Maps when it comes to navigation and traffic. Who knows, maybe they’ll integrate Google+ in a more core level? Maybe even bring turn-by-turn navigation to Malaysia?
