Back during Computex, ASUS announced many devices and the MeMO Pad Smart 10’s elder brother – the full HD version (1920×1080 resolution display) was shown, but then no one really got a closer look or even feel of the tablet, except for telephoto lenses.
Sources told us that this device is actually the ME302KL. The hardware used are not finalized yet, but the source confirmed some of them which are :
- Full HD (1920×1080 resolution) screen (hence the name)
- Runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) at 1.7GHz
- 5.07Ah lithium-ion battery
- Has speakers like the ME301T
It’s interesting to note that this device also has a much better build quality than its Tegra 3 brother, the ME301T. The MeMO Pad FHD runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and ASUS tweaked it to a whole new level. You now have multi-homescreen to suit where you are and what you are doing. There’s also a new feature for apps to overlay the current app for your multi-tasking needs, a la the Paranoid Android’s HALO, though only for certain apps.
With also a few tweaks to the interface, Google Now’s shortcut – the one where you hold and drag the Home button up – is revamped to have a multi-selection style. The notification bar is also no longer at the bottom, and has a scrollable quick settings panel a la the Samsung notification bar.

The source also included pictures of the upcoming tablet’s app drawer, with we notice that there are a few other apps that are included since the release of the ME301T, noticeably the ASUS Artist, ASUS Splendid and MyDictionary.
The other thing that the source told – but without sample – is the picture quality of images taken by the rear camera. It is said that with reference to the ME301T, the ME302KL has a much better camera in lower light conditions, and also less noise.
Then again, this is a very early leak from the source, and nothing is really confirmed until nearing the release date itself. As of now, the release date and the price is not announced yet.
