The only problem about electric cars is that the amount of time spent to replenish the energy source is taking too long compared to the traditional petrol pumping which can take only a couple of minutes instead of hours.
The first step that car manufacturers should take is to standardize their charging port/connector across all kind of electric vehicle and across the globe just like how current cars have a refueling port that will fit in any country. The Society of Automotive Engineers designed a standardized connector that will take in DC fast charging source. It is told that BMW and GM would be among the first cars that will use this particular connector soon. However, the BMW i3 and Chevrolet Spark are the first two cars on the planet to be fitted with the DC fast charge port.
Well, charging your electric cars overnight would be the thing of the past. Just like normal petrol stations, you could just park your car and connect the port for about 10 to 20 minutes and you are good to go! It still takes longer than refueling with petrol, but then again, we’re getting there now with electric vehicle!
