Personally, I value education a lot. However, the digital divide exists – and the whole COVID-19 quarantine season made the digital divide even more apparent. Underprivileged students literally can’t get online and attend classrooms. So, HONOR Malaysia stepped in to help – and I personally appreciate their effort.
HONOR Malaysia is giving out HONOR MagicBook to underprivileged students, specifically University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) students who are lacking technological access due to COVID-19 forcing the education sector to rely on digital learning instead of face-to-face.
The initiative will allow selected students to temporarily gain ownership for the notebook until their campus reopens, no matter how long the period may be and issues such as attending online lectures, accessing course materials, and working on assignments can be overcome.
The Vice President Student Union of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Mr. Tan Ray Ming also expressed his gratitude towards the caring move:
We are very thankful for this opportunity presented by HONOR Malaysia. At such an unprecedented time, the notebooks will be of great assistance to our students in their transition to e-learning as our curriculum shifts online until the end of 2020.
