TikTok has joined forces with Yayasan Generasi Gemilang (GG) to help to spread the issue of cyberbullying and creating a positive community.
Cyberbullying involves sending harassments or hate speech to someone through electronic media such as video recording, defamation just to fulfill their own sense of humor. As we live in a digital era, people have started to use these tactics instead of being physical because they can do it with anonymity and on-demand.
But humans can change, and they can be changed even easier through the people and environment around them. So TikTok is committed to promoting a safe and positive app environment with the partnership with GG only reinforces it to protect the global community against misuse including the dangers of cyberbullying.
They are tackling this issue through the approach of both offline and online. The offline approach would see on-ground outreach initiatives at schools to inculcate positive online behaviors by providing fresh, new learning materials to youth, whereas online will include a downloadable module that serves as a guide to addressing cyberbullying, the launch of the #stopbullying (#hentikanbuli) campaign and potential live streams with GG and other industry experts to raise awareness and the importance of standing up to cyberbullying.
On the other hand, through the #hentikanbuli challenge under the #thinkb4youdo campaign, TikTok is encouraging users to participate and spread awareness on cyberbullying by doing the following:
- Shoot a video using the sticker
- Post your video along with the hashtags #thinkb4youdo, #stopbullying and #hentikanbuli and set it to public
- Share it on all your social platforms and invite your friends to join you
