Some cool announcement from Xiaomi is their smartphones equipped with their 3rd Generation Under-Display Camera technology is entering mass production next year.
Originally, the announcement of this next-gen camera tech came after Mi 10 Ultra’s 120W graphene battery with its ability to perfectly disguise itself under normal light exposure to achieve the no punch-hole, waterdrops, and any kind of notches. Just the good-old panel at the front surface, nothing else.
The self-developed pixel arrangement used in Xiaomi’s 3rd Generation Under-Display Camera Technology allows the screen to pass light through the gap area of sub-pixels, to retain a complete RGB subpixel layout without sacrificing pixel density for each of the pixels. With double the number of pixels than other competitors, it could capture the same level of brightness, color gamut and color accuracy like a standard camera could do.
It also adopts a special circuit design to hide more components under the RGB sub-pixels to further increase the light transmittance of the under-screen camera area for a fully updated photographic experience thanks to the company’s own optimization algorithm.
Take a look at the demo video to see the prototype in action or click here for the blog post about it.
My question is – what happened to the first and second generation of the under-display cameras?
