It is a fairy tale that came true when we found out recently that the new Google Maps update brought the magical turn-by-turn voice navigation app to work in Malaysia! After longing for this feature for a years (since that Navigation app just sits there, hogging my internal storage), Google finally opened up its feature to all Malaysians to enjoy the power of Google’s magic.
The Navigation app is however still not the best solution for everyone, but then again it’s free for all Android users! It however requires 3G data to get driving locations, as the app itself does not hold any offline data.
Also as mentioned, Google Maps got a new update – a new UI! Being much more picture-driven than text-driven, Maps now offer you categories where discovery is just a tap away. There is also an option to select if you want to avoid tolls and/or highways, giving you total control over which route you want to take.
The new Google Maps is having a staged rollout, so if you haven’t got the update yet, be patient as it will come to you soon enough. Well… even I don’t have the update yet.
