Sonso is a brand that really kickstarted and made the whole smart connected speaker category of products go mainstream. Since its debut, there are a lot of different similar products in the market – like the Amazon Echo, Google Home, and also the new Apple HomePod speakers. But… why get tied into one particular brand and service? The Sonos One is a competitor to those pods.

But… today’s review here will be focused on the video because I find it easier to talk and show the Sonos One’s capability instead. However, I have set up the Sonos One in my room, I filmed this entire video at home with horrible framing and also sub-par microphone. My apologies, but the information still persists.

So far, I’m really liking how the Sonos One works. The product category – especially how Sonos creates these products in terms of software and hardware have matured, I was pleasantly surprised by how the Sonos One can work with other services.

Also, for me, Google Assistant integration is not working at first. So what I did is change my Sonos account’s country to the United States, then I can link my Google Assistant and it worked fine. No idea why they have this superficial roadblock though.

And at the end of the day, the Sonos One is priced at RM1,199. It’s an expensive speaker – yes, but you can also get the Sonos One SL which does not have the microphones for smart assistant integration for RM999.

Still, it’s a pretty high price for a speaker like this, but its software, flexibility, and expandability are immense. I mean, I can get multiple speakers and scatter them around the house so I can have an epic background music when I come home and open the door.
