Once a character reaches the level cap in World of Warcraft: Midnight, the question changes from “how do I level” to “where do I spend my evenings.” Season 2, which began with patch 12.1 The Curse of Ula’tek on 18 August 2026 in North America and 19 August in Europe, gives players four broad routes: organized raiding, Mythic+ dungeons, solo content built around Delves, and outdoor world activities. Patch 12.1.5 The Promise of Tomorrow, released on 13 October 2026 in North America and 14 October in Europe, extended the same season rather than starting a new one, and it added something to every route.

Each path rewards a different kind of effort. Some ask for a fixed schedule and a roster of fifteen or more people; others fit into a lunch break and need nobody else. Players who cannot commit to a weekly raid night sometimes look at a wow boost for one specific goal, but most of the season’s rewards are reachable through ordinary play once you pick the route that suits your week.

This guide compares the four paths on what they demand, what they pay out and how they fit together after the 12.1.5 additions.

Raiding: the highest ceiling, the most coordination

The season’s main raid is Venomous Abyss, an eight-boss instance that ends with Ula’tek. Its loot spans item levels 279 to 344 across difficulties. On Mythic, the first six bosses drop Myth track gear between 318 and 324, while The Coiled Altar and Ula’tek drop item level 344, a step beyond the normal top of the track. The difficulty at that end is real: the guild Liquid needed roughly 311 pulls before claiming the world first kill of Mythic Ula’tek on 3 September 2026, with Echo about 25 minutes behind and Method third on 4 September.

For players who do not raid every week, all four Raid Finder wings have been open since 8 September, so the story and the lower-track gear are available without a guild.

Patch 12.1.5 added The Unbinding of Kith’ix, a single-boss raid in which players fight alongside Lady Liadrin against an ancient C’Thraxxi general once imprisoned by the Amani. It runs on Story, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic, and its Mythic mode is flexible from 15 to 25 players, which makes it easier to field than a fixed-size roster.

Normal298Champion 3/6

Mythic+: repeatable and self-scheduled

Mythic+ is the path for people who want progression on their own timetable. The Season 2 pool holds eight dungeons: Altar of Fangs, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, The Blinding Vale, Voidscar Arena, Ruby Life Pools, Kings’ Rest and Temple of Sethraliss. The pool did not change in 12.1.5, although Blizzard said it would apply targeted tuning to outliers.

Difficulty scales through affixes. Lower keys carry Lindormi’s Guidance, which drops off around +6. Fortified or Tyrannical applies from +7, both apply from +10, and from +12 Xal’atath’s Guile replaces the seasonal affix, so every death costs 15 seconds. A +10 completion fills the Great Vault with a Myth 1/6 item at 318, while the end-of-dungeon chest at that level roughly matches the Hero track.

The long-term goal returned in 12.1.5: reaching 3,600 rating awards the achievement Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2, the title Venomous Contender and the Timelost Saddle mount.

Solo: Delves and the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan

Delves remain the main solo path. Tier 11 Bountiful Delves sit at the top, and they are one of the listed sources of Ascendant Venomstones, the new upgrade material described below.

The bigger solo addition is the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, a nine-chamber delve-style challenge with Valeera as your companion. It is rated Tier 11 and rewards Mythic-level gear, cosmetics and titles, which gives solo players a ceiling closer to group content than they have had before.

The Lair Tidebound Grotto sits between solo and group play. Its boss, Nymrissa Wavecaller, has been available on World difficulty since 11 August, with Normal, Heroic and Mythic from 18 August, and the Mythic version drops Myth 1/6 gear at 318.

Outdoor: Aqir Invasions and Prey

Outdoor content is the most casual path. Aqir Invasions, added in 12.1.5, run in Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman for 10 minutes every hour and end with a boss. Blizzard lists six scenario types and eight combat affixes, so the events vary more than a fixed world boss does.

Prey is the other outdoor thread, and its Champion chests are on the source list for Ascendant Venomstones. That matters because it gives players who never queue for groups a share of the same top-end upgrade material.

The table hides one point: these paths are not exclusive. Most active players mix two or three, using outdoor events and Delves to fill gaps around raid or key nights.

How the week of 20 October connects every path

Blizzard’s 12.1.5 schedule sets two changes for the week of 20 October. The crest cap is removed, so players can upgrade as fast as they earn crests. Ascendant Venomstones also unlock, dropping from Heroic and Mythic raid bosses, Mythic+ keys of +10 and higher, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves and Prey Champion chests.

Ten stones upgrade a fully upgraded Hero or Myth weapon, trinket or necklace, or a maximum-quality crafted item. Blizzard gave no number for the increase. According to figures reported by Method, Myth items go from 334 to 340 and Hero items from 321 to 328.

Because the stones come from every path, the gap between a raider and a dedicated solo player narrows for those three slots in particular.

Picking a route

A few questions settle the choice faster than any tier list:

  • How fixed is your schedule? If you can commit two evenings a week, raiding offers the highest item levels. If not, Mythic+ and solo content give similar progress in smaller blocks.
  • Do you enjoy coordinating with others? Raids reward communication; Delves and the Labyrinth reward individual skill.
  • What is the goal? Mounts and titles come from Keystone Myth and the Labyrinth, raw item level from raids and high keys, and upgrade materials from all four paths.
  • How long do you plan to play this season? Patch 12.1.5 extends Season 2, so there is room to start one path and add another later.

Whichever route you choose, the shape of Midnight’s endgame in 12.1.5 is wider than in earlier seasons. Solo and outdoor players have a credible path to high-end upgrades, and raiders and key pushers still hold the top of the item level range.
