This is the second generation of the Huawei X Gentle Monster collaboration and it’s also the (as far as I know) the one and only product series that combines TWS and glasses together. Essentially, you can listen to your glasses.
There are a couple of features here and there that are worth highlighting. So, in today’s video, we go through the glasses and its features and how it actually sounds – both the speakers and also the microphone quality of the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear 2.
Overall, I will still consider this to be a niche product. It’s technically a replacement for your eyewear – be it your glasses or your sunglasses. You can change out the lens to whatever you want, too.
Huawei also has a total of 4 different frame designs to choose from. All of them are priced at a premium RM1,799, which is kinda difficult to swallow, honestly. If you ever need to charge the glasses then you won’t have anything to wear, and it’s much lower-priced to get a standard pair of glasses and another pair of TWS.
But then again, if you really want both eyeglasses and TWS combined into a single device, then the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear 2 is really well-made. Its construction is fantastic and the audio quality is surprisingly good – barring the bass because it’s sitting quite far away from the ears.
Since this is the second generation of these types of products by Huawei, it’s already very well-made compared to the first generation. It now comes in a very protective case, too. But, I’m not someone who require to wear glases – and our cameraman has stated that he wish to see the frame to be thinner in the next generation, as it is rather wide right now.
Also, the software for the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear 2 still has a lot of weird translations. For example, the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear 2 has swipe detection that can be customized – but in the app, instead of saying “swipe”, it says “slippery” instead.
All in all, the Huawei X Gentle Monster Eyewear 2 is still considered a niche product – but it’s very well-made.
