Here’s a quick one – the Nokia 3.4. Nokia has been in the mobile phone industry for a very long time, but not that long when it comes to Android smartphones. They have a very unique yet adamant approach to create Android smartphones which they adhered from their flagships all the way to their entry-level smartphones.
And today, we have the Nokia 3.4. It’s the company’s not-quite-entry-level smartphone while retaining Android One as well.
Now, the Nokia 3.4 isn’t exactly a complex smartphone but we’ll just go through our usual 6 points but in a quicker manner.
Okay, let’s start off with the design. The Nokia 3.4 is using a plastic back with a bit of a corrugated design. Not bad, has a physical fingerprint scanner at the back – and that’s something that I wish is retained on new flagship smartphones.
The Nokia 3.4 is also equipped with the Snapdragon 460 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage – pretty much that’s it. It offers okay performance for day-to-day use, but it does stutter here and there but overall it’s still okay.
And if you’re curious – here are the benchmark scores.
As for the screen, it comes with a 6.39-inch 720p display. Not bad but I don’t expect anything else for this price point.
Then, we have 3 cameras at the back. To look at all of the pictures taken by the Nokia 3.4, watch the video instead.
As for the battery, it comes with a 4,000mAh battery, and honestly, with the Snapdragon 460 chipset, it’ll last more than a day without issues for sure. Buuuuuuuut this phone comes with a 5W charger. Oh my god.
It took more than 3 hours to charge from 15% to 100% battery life. WTF.
Then the software side of things. One major selling point about Nokia phones is the software side of things. It’s using stock Android and it promises 2 generations’ worth of upgrades – but here’s the catch.
The Nokia 3.4 is still running on Android 10 as of March 2021 – rather slow in terms of updates, honestly. And in terms of usability, it’s rather clunky. For example, there’s no feature for rolling screenshot.
But, at the price of RM599 – the Nokia 3.4 is not a bad phone, honestly. But only if you can buy it, honestly. Currently, the phone is not available for sale on Lazada or Shopee but it’s only available on RedOne via a contract.
