Okay, the POCO X3 GT. I’ve been using it for a while and I gotta say – this is a phone that raises a lot of questions. And we also have a segment where we answer your questions too. So let’s get into it.
So the POCO X3 GT is yet another phone within the X3 family and it definitely has a few similarities here and there.
We’ll start off with the display – just like any other phone in the POCO X3 family of devices, we have an IPS LCD screen. This is a 6.6-inch screen with 2400×1080 pixels in resolution and goes up to 120Hz refresh rate.
Yes, it’s an IPS LCD screen just like any other phone in the POCO X3 family. However, the credit where credit is due – this is a very nice IPS LCD screen. Pretty much comparable to the Mi 10T Pro’s IPS LCD screen too – which I have praised.
But, I’m sure many people will definitely complain about this screen just because it’s an IPS LCD. The 120Hz refresh rate is still decent as there are no signs of ghosting or motion blur.
Then there’s nothing else similar to the other POCO X3 family of devices. It has a glossy plastic back and our unit comes in this Stargaze Black color which has this… sparkly glitter design.
It does hide fingerprints and dust pretty well as they can blend in with the sparkly glitter design very well.
Cameras – it’s a pretty standard one here. Briefly running it through, we have 3 cameras and all of them are usable – thank you for not including depth sensors anymore!
How’s the picture quality coming out of the camera, though? Well, we leave everything in auto at first. Some shots look decent, but some shots look underexposed and some shots look overprocessed to the point where it looks outright fake.
To have a look at all of the pictures we took with the POCO X3 GT, watch our video at the top of this review.
Software also remains the same – it’s still MIUI 12.5 which we have talked about it a lot in many of our other reviews – so check those out instead. Overall, it’s still the same user experience. It’s still buggy and a lot more improvements more than that can be done.
Of course, I still have my complaints about MIUI 12.5 in general. It still has a pretty bad settings menu layout which I have complained about multiple times and it is just never fixed.
Then, we also pointed out that the previous generation (just one previous generation) has the ability to screen capture at 60fps. However, the newer, more powerful smartphones can only capture at 30fps. I have no idea why.
And yet, the POCO X3 GT is rather powerful too. It is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chipset with 8GB RAM and the performance – as shown in our gaming test for this phone in particular – is surprisingly good. The GPU in this phone is not particularly “flagship level” but it actually quite decent as we can play Genshin Impact at medium graphical settings.
As for the battery, we have a 5,000mAh battery. Pretty standard nowadays and it lasts for a surprisingly long time since the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 doesn’t consume that much power.
How about the charger? The POCO X3 GT comes with a proprietary 67W charger.
One more question that I’d like to put out there is the comparison between the POCO X3 GT and the POCO F3. Which one is better? The answer is a lot more complicated.

During our review of the POCO F3, it ran hot. It overheated constantly, which in turn made the display become dim. Those were the things we showed in our review video. The POCO F3 just can’t handle all the heat that’s coming out of the Snapdragon 870 chipset in certain games.

It has been a few months since we did our review of the POCO F3, so I’m not sure how it is now. From what I can theorize, the only way this overheating can be avoided is through thermal throttling – which essentially the Snapdragon 870 will never reach its full potential so that it won’t overheat. And that means wasted potential.
Back to the POCO X3 GT – should you buy it?
Okay, so back to the POCO X3 GT. Starting at the price of RM1,299, I think it’s not bad. The price is not surprisingly low or surprisingly high – it’s just reasonable. It’s still a decent phone – and that Dimensity 1100 definitely surprised me.
